New Role, new member in our life

It's been many months since I neglected this blog. Going through nine months pregnancy was indeed a great experience,and finally on 11th July I delivered my big baby boy by C-sec. He was 4.6kg, app 10 pounds when he was born. When the doc took him out, she said, "Underestimated, I think he is almost 5kg". Haha....in fact she estimated his weight to be around 4kg. Anyhow, we thank God for this bundle of joy, he is a healthy baby. This is his 20th day in the world. For first time mommy, I had too much worries especially in the first 2 weeks. I have a lousy confinement lady, which is more interested in kitchen things than trying to understand and spend time with my baby. She doesn't show any passion to baby. First day when she came to the hospital to wait for my discharge, she simply sat there without looking at my baby. I had hard time handling her, as I don't want her to do harm on my baby, she always have her say. No matter how much pre-info I read in books about baby, every baby, after all is different, I still remember, my boy made a lot of "noise" at night, even that worries me. And the governement nurse came home and visit, told he has mild jaundice, but we brought him to see pediatrician, he told boy is good, mild jaundice is normal in the first one week. Nothing to worry. Believe it or not, I even worried when he sneeze a bit more and did not poo poo for a day. Perhapds was due to sudden hormone change as well, I was rather emotional, but thank God, I have a great husband, that is always listen to me, he is my shoulder to cry on, he goes through all my difficult moments with me. Besides that, I have sis to share her motherhood experience with me, another good friend of mine also gave me great word of encouragement and now I feel more confident to handle my baby.

Yummy Sarawak Laksa@Chong Lin Park, Kuching

Friend of ours told and confirmed that the laksa stall in Chong Lin Park is one of the best in Kuching. So far, we have tried a few good ones ( namely Choon Hui, Foody Goody etc), and really, today our exploration to this hidden gem and humble stall confirms that he is right.

This hidden gem is a stall located inside Mei Mei Food Court in Chong Lin Park ( Jalan Tabuan ), open only for breakfast.

Penang Seafood Restaurant@Kuching

Hubby and his friend came to this restaurant before. He told me we can get quite decent "order dishes" food here at Penang Seafood Restaurant. It seems that the cook/owner is originated from Penang.
This time around, we ordered three dishes, and two were just good.
I really miss the Belacan Chicken, the real Penang version Belacan Chicken, so we ordered that. Hmm....it turned out to be rather good/similar.


The other two dishes we ordered were not the typical Penang style food, but the Soup based Chinese Spinach was of my liking.


But the bawal hitam fish we ordered was not so fresh....


Saw a few tables ordered Assam Fish, must be quite good here, should check them out next time.

We were there last weekend to check out the Char Koay Teow & laksa which only available on weekend.
Check this out, Char Koay Teow was quite good

the.Dyak@Jln Simpang Tiga, Kuching

We had a scrumptious lunch at the.Dyak and everybody enjoyed every single dishes we ordered.
According to my colleague, the food served at the.Dyak is a mixture of Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu cuisine. This was my first experience trying the authentic aborigines' food, and it really "wow" me. I love the food serves at the.Dyak.

The first dish that came - three layer pork with curry ( we ended up ordered second bowl, as it taste extremely yummy). The gravy was rich, I can taste the simply delicious blends of spices and all natural ingredients. Thumbs Up!!


I love the fact that red rice was served,instead of white rice.


The two lovely vege we ordered, was fibrous, cooking in a simple way, but taste super fresh and delicious!

Last but not least, chicken cooked in bamboo with tapioca leaves...great taste too!!


I feel like I had just eaten a nice home-cooked food, simply yummy!
Nice ingredients used, superb cooking skill, good ambiance and service! I will be back, for sure!

Basaga Holiday Residences@ Jalan Tabuan, Kuching

This is a lovely place which has got really cool ambiance to dine. I love the greenery here... The little gem is located at Jalan Tabuan, Off Chong Lin Park. Doesn't even have a proper board, but already attracted large crowd of visitors to the restaurant as well as the residences.

Little bird told me that that the accommodation at Basaga is simple, but decent, really value for money.

This is really a paradise within the concrete forest in the heart of city centre.

The food served here also is above average for Kuching standard, and the most important thing is the overall ambiance can add value to the dining experience. I will surely come again Basaga!!

Sarawak Laksa@Choon Hui Cafe, Kuching


It's Sarawak Laksa again....the famous cafe located at Ban Hock Road beside Grand Continental Hotel is a famous breakfast spot for Kuchingite. This place is especially famous for the Sarawak Laksa and Popiah. Finally, I was able to sample the so called famous laksa last weekend. Perhaps it was due to too high expectation, we felt that the laksa was just mediocre, perhaps the Golden Arch one is much better !

My bowl of laksa - was rather disappointed esp I could taste the chlorine smell when biting the prawns. Not at all a good feeling!


Some people said the toast bread and coffee are good, but to me, they are just another run-of-the-mill version.

The toast bread was so dry, no good!

Sorry Choon Hui, I don't think I will be there again, perhaps the laksa was just not my cup of tea!

Xin Jiang BBQ@ Premier 101, Kuching


This is one of the best BBQ chicken wings I've ever tried. It's nicely marinated with the so called XinJiang recipe....really addictive and full of flavour.

The humble stall is located at Premier 101 commercial area. Open around 6pm in front of a steamboat restaurant within the hawker place. One set of BBQ chicken wings come in 5 pieces, believe me, you will never get enough of it, and true enough, we always tempting to order more. Simply sedap!!


They do sell other BBQ items such as lamb, pork ribs etc which is not of our liking. However, friend told me that those are real good as well.
