Seafood@Asam Batu Laut, Kuala Langat

This was our 3rd visit to Asam Batu Laut. In fact, the first time experience will always be the best. I am not saying that this time around the food was bad, but funny, not as great as last time. Anyway, the first time visit, we spent some time at Sepang Gold Coast for the nice sea breeze and sun set, then only we head to Asam Batu Laut for the famous seafood. It was in fact a nice outing with the gang.

The most delicious dish was the assam sauce steamed pari- the assam sauce was superb!

I also love the Teochew steamed red snapper- with firm and fleshy pieces!

Another dish I love was the fried squid- the bouncy fresh squid was nicely fried with flour coating!

Other dishes we ordered were the butter prawns

Gong Po Mantis Prawns

Salted egg squid

Stir Fry Kai Lan

and claypot tofu - which is not in the photo. Total damage was RM140/= courtesy of our dear friend, Ms. P!!! Thanks ya! It's really rather cheap compare to having seafood in town. If you happen to be near Sepang Gold Coast, perhaps you should drop by this place for a nice and cheap meal!
The follow photo tells that everyone enjoyed the dinner! In fact, it was the great company of friends, jokes we cracked and laughter that are more important that food alone ya!

We also ordered garlic prawns and their signature fish and chips. Real good stuff!

Irresistible fresh seafood and I've no complain. Mouth watering meal we had!
Do drop by Kailis if you are in Fremantle. A nice town to spend a day at the fishing boat harbour, Fremantle market, E-Shed market, prison tour etc.

Perth Day 1 - Dining @ (A)LURE, Burswood

We dined at (A)lure @ Burswood Entertainment Complex. (A)lure is famous of the modern Australian dining with really cool ambiance. This was the second time we dined at (A)lure as our last experience 3 years ago was indeed a good one.

The place is famous of serving the best sashimi in Perth. And yes, we were amazed having the Waygu sashimi - super tender, extremely fresh!

Not to mention the next starter - Tuna Sashimi - firm and fresh piece of tuna melted in your mouth...that's really heavenly!

Another highlight is the crabmeat cake mixed with mashed potato, also very nicely done.

As for main, we ordered one sushi & sashimi platter - lovely fresh pieces of sashimi was my favourite!

Second one was pork belly top with scallop. This is rich - definitely must be shared to taste the tenderness of the meat.

How can we ignore the lovely barramundi fish -simple yet delicious piece!

That was the superb dinner we had at (A)LURE. Love the freshness, the taste, the ambiance, the food presentation.

Perth Trip Day 1 - The concert and Fireworks

I was in Perth, Australia for a really short break, a 3-day break. This is my second time to Perth, nothing much simply enjoying the beautiful relaxing scenic city and most importantly the food. Taking Air Asia night flight at 11.55am reaching Perth at 5.30am the next day. Super tiring! Please note there is no day light saving for the next 10 years in Perth during summer. So no time difference. We stayed in Intercontinental Hotel at Burswood, the hotel representative picked us up from the airport and we had a good sleep for few hours before we started off the day. As sis joined us from Brisbane, she arrived around 12.30pm only.
We rented a car and went to CBD for a nice dim sum. She is indeed a Chinese food person. She longs for Chinese food, that's why. However, I agree with dad, the Chinese food here mostly opened by HongKongers, are up to standard. Good food! There was a concert held at Burswood theatre in the same day. It was complimentary tickets for us, a concert of Frances Yip, the famous Hong Kong singer that sang "Shanghai Beach". I was a bit doubtful in the beginning, what kind of great show can I expect from a 62 year old lady? I was wrong, she was gorgeous! I was totally impressed by the performance, even though she is not of my generation but her powerful and convincing voice was really touching. It was not those typical concert, it's simple, like old friends gathering concert. At this age, Frances keep her body really fit and her words of sharing were so positive, with a sense of humour. She is fluent in both Cantonese and English. She made the concert sort of like story telling of herself, how she started her career, her love for golf etc. The one and half hour show gone through so fast. Fantastic performance which I can't get enough. Surprisingly! After the show, we went straight for a firework performance outside the theatre. It was across the lake and standing right in front of the lake, this is my first time watching the fireworks so near to me. Marvellous, at least for me, I've not seen such a great one before.

I am going to share the nice dinner we had in my next post. Stay tune!

Vnam Kitchen@Jln Sennivasagam Ipoh

I've read an review on Vnam Kitchen at J2kfm's blog many months back, finally got a chance to check out this place at dinner time.
The simple decorated place is quite comfy, generally the spread is minimum, but to my surprise, the food is rather good. At least, I reckon that the MSG level is low and price is rather reasonable. I will definitely return for the rice!

We ordered one Vietnamese Spring roll, but the skin is a bit too thick. As my friend said she has tried better ones whereby the skin is much thinner. Price at RM4.50. Rating: 5/10.

I love the Vietnamese Beef Noodles...beef are real good! RM9.90.
My rating: 8/10. Must try if you are a beef lover!

Another satay soup chicken noodles also not bad! My friend love this one. I feel is ok only. Rating: 6/10

One snack that we really love is bamboo stick crab meat. This is very tasty! 8/10

Overall, I love the food, at least better than Little Vietnam at Mid Valley which I've tried long time back. The food was mediocre and with lots of MSG!

Popeyes@ MidValley Megamall

I've been neglecting my blog for a long time. There's lots of unexpected things happened in my life...anyway, I have to "re-programmed" myself and keep staying positive!

Was at Midvalley one of the weekends, with CNY around the corner, everywhere was crowded for lunch, we decided to try Popeyes, something we've not tried before. I've not read any review about this place as well, so my judgement should be more rational before prior info on Popeyes.
We ordered the 2 piece hot and spicy chicken set @RM9.90. The set comes with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, drinks and biscuit.

The chicken doesn't taste spicy, but super salty! I can't take it!!

But the side dishes, esp the mashed potato was real good! This is definitely better than KFC's version.

Another highlight of side order which taste good is the fries...this is something like the potato ring offered at McD prosperity set.

Last but not least the fish pieces at RM7.40. Dory pieces, nothing special to shout about!

I don't think I'll come back for the fried chicken, but side dishes, esp mashed potato maybe!Overall rating: 3/10
